Modern Prairie

In Hardin Valley, Modern Prairie sits on a wooded lot with a hillside behind it. The single-level home follows a low, horizontal line, with hip roofs and deep overhangs that define its prairie-style exterior. Dark brick and stone meet a bronze standing-seam metal roof, while timber-wrapped posts frame the entry. Inside, the materials shift toward a warm, mid-century-modern feel. Polished concrete floors run beneath walnut slab cabinetry, dark leathered stone counters and backsplash. A steel-framed picture window over the kitchen sink looks out toward the trees. In the living area, a plaster fireplace has a floating hearth ledge. A sliding door opens to a covered patio, keeping the wooded setting in view.
