Every home begins somewhere. You may start with one of our previous Mike Stevens Homes plans and want to make it your own. You may already have plans in hand. Or you may want our Design Division to create a completely custom home design from the ground up.
Our in-house home design team develops the floor plan, exterior, and overall design of the home around your property, your priorities, and the way you want to live. From there, our interior design services can help with as much or as little as you need — guidance through the selections made during construction, or full-service interior design that carries the vision into the finished rooms. If you’re already working with an outside architect or interior designer, we’re happy to collaborate with them.
There’s more than one way to create a completely personal home.
Home Design
Some homeowners know exactly what they want. Others know what they like but need help turning those ideas into a home. Our Design Division can develop a completely new home design, customize one of our previous Mike Stevens Homes plans, or work with plans you already have.
From room relationships and flow to exterior character and the way the home sits on the property, the design develops around your priorities and the way you want to live. If you’re starting with one of our plans, that might mean a few thoughtful changes, or it might mean reworking the plan extensively until it becomes something distinctly your own.
And if you’re starting from scratch, we start with you.
The Homesite
The property is part of the design from the beginning. Views, natural light, topography, privacy, outdoor living, and the way you approach the home can all influence the floor plan and the exterior.
Our Design Division considers those things alongside the way you want to live, developing the home around both the property and the people who will call it home.

Interior Design
Once the home design is underway, there are hundreds of decisions that shape how the finished spaces will look and feel. Our interior design team can help guide the selections made throughout the build — from cabinetry, flooring, stone, and tile to lighting, plumbing, hardware, paint, and finishes.
Some homeowners want help with all of it. Others already know exactly what they want, or are working with their own interior designer. We’re comfortable either way.
And for homeowners who want to take the design beyond construction selections, our full-service interior design can continue much further. That’s where the possibilities really open up.
Full-Service Interior Design
For some homeowners, interior design continues well beyond the decisions made during construction. Our full-service interior design can carry the vision into the finished rooms — from furniture, rugs, artwork, and accessories to custom window treatments, commissioned murals, and one-of-a-kind furnishings created specifically for the home.
That might mean having a piece of furniture designed for a particular space, working with an artist on something completely original, sourcing pieces from different makers and vendors, or designing custom draperies for the room. It can be one special space or an entire home.
The house is personal. Everything inside it can be, too.

Collaboration
You may already have an interior designer you know and trust. That works for us. Mike Stevens Homes can collaborate with your designer throughout the build, working together as selections, materials, finishes, and other details are developed for the home.
The same is true if you come to us with plans developed by an outside architect. We’re comfortable joining an existing team and building from the work you’ve already done.
